About Aisha

Get My Resume!

Hey, ya’ll! I’m Aisha and I’m a “slash” professional. That basically means that I have a lot of talents and passions that can’t be limited. Rather than build a bunch of different websites for all the things I do, I’m just gonna keep building this one. It’s not exactly good SEO practice, but who cares what those keyword monkeys think, anyhow?

So what are my skills?

Journalism / Reporting

I’ve been an independent blogger for four years, covering women’s issues, the environment, transportation and the arts. Please check out my Clips to read what I’ve done.

In addition, I got an M.A. in Interactive and Environmental Journalism at the Reynold’s School of Journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno. I have to say all that because it’s apparently very impressive. What I’m passionate most about though is practicing communitarian journalism aided by technology. If you have any projects that you need someone with my multimedia, social media, philosophical knowledge and expertise, please feel free to Contact Me.

Copywriting / Ghost Writing

Do you want to sell something or yourself but suck at it? I can make you sound good. I did it for Progressive Majority, the Las Vegas Valley Water District, and the Las Vegas Philharmonic. Newsletters, emails, speeches, scripts, Twitter and Facebook updates and blogging, I can do it all.

WordPress Development

I couldn’t escape my degree program without learning how to develop websites. I’ve done it several times for myself! I especially enjoy working with artists and writers, so if you need a web developer that can translate your semi-lucid thoughts to a website, I’m your gal.

MY PHILOSOPHY ON JOURNALISM

I believe that journalism should be an active conversation about the different facets of issues facing a community. The journalists have the long-view of a problem and should help organize these different facets into a comprehensible whole. This is the heart of what I like to “collaborative journalism.” It’s a process that I hope to keep doing and inspire others to try.
